Rancé is a French perfume house that dates its founding to 1795. These are triple-milled on a vegetable base and pressed in the house's own engraved molds.
François Charles is the most layered of the four. Grapefruit, bitter orange and pineapple at the top with cinnamon, cardamom and ginger, a heart of lavender, clary sage, orange blossom, jasmine and rose, and a base of sandalwood, cedar and patchouli with caramel, amber and musk.
Named for a man, but it doesn't read that way. This is the one to send when the gift is for the house rather than for her alone.
