milk & honey babies

our story

The registry covers the baby. We're here for everything the registry leaves out.

milk & honey babies began in 2014, out of a simple frustration. The shopping around new parenthood didn't match the moment being celebrated. A category sold in pastel and exclamation points, as though the person buying were a child rather than a woman with taste, when what was actually happening in those weeks was quieter and harder and more worth marking than any of it suggested.

A few years in we opened at The Shops at Hudson Yards. That chapter is closed, and it shaped how we think about curation now. We're online, with the same standard and a narrower point of view.

who this is for

You, most likely. Not the mother.

Almost everyone who shops here is buying for someone else. The sister who heard first. The friend whose own baby is now two. The colleague who wants to send something that isn't another muslin set. You know her well enough to want to get it right, and you're looking at a registry full of bottle warmers wondering whether any of it says what you mean.

So we build for you. Every Edit is chosen for a person and a moment: the woman in the first weeks, the baby, the household that has just been rearranged. You choose which one, and we handle the rest.

how they are composed

Nothing is assembled in advance. We hold no pre-packed Edits in inventory. When your order arrives, the pieces are gathered and composed by hand in our studio, wrapped in tissue, and your message is written out on a card and placed on top. Five to seven business days, because that's how long it takes to do properly.

It arrives with her, or with you to give in person. No prices, no packing slip, no invoice in the box. Tracking comes to you, so you know when it lands.

what we carry

We don't make what's inside. We choose it, and every maker earns a place the same way. The materials have to hold up, soft-handed and well-made, built to outlast the first weeks. The aesthetic has to be quiet. And the brand has to have a point of view we respect, whether that's Banwood's restraint, PAUME's design-led take on the essentials, or HATCH treating the mother as the centerpiece rather than the footnote.

The test is short. Would we send it to someone we love. If the answer is anything less than yes, it doesn't go on the site.

the standard

We want this to read like a well-edited magazine that happens to sell the right thing for the person you're thinking of. That's the bar we hold ourselves to, and the reason we answer every note ourselves.
