Erode Soap - White Grapefruit
Open to order now, leaving the studio from the middle of October. Complimentary shipping from $125, complimentary expedited from $500.
A bar of soap she would never buy herself.
Erode is soap made as an object. Cold-processed, poured and cast by hand in Oakland, cured for six to eight weeks, and shaped so that it changes as it is used. The slopes shift, the pattern moves, and it looks better halfway through than it did new. It sits on the edge of a sink and improves the room it is in.
The scent is rose clay, white grapefruit and goji berry. Light and citrus rather than sweet, which is the right register for someone who cannot wear much fragrance at the moment.
THE OBJECT
7.4 ounces, five by two inches, considerably larger than a usual bar
Cold-process, certified organic, no synthetic fragrance
Hand-poured, so no two are the same
Arrives in the white box shown, which needs no wrapping
THE MAKERS
UME Studio was founded by Victor and Mei-Lan, who met working in architecture and built the house around materials and craft rather than styling. It shows in the shape.
HOW TO USE IT
Brush wet hands or a cloth over the surfaces to raise a lather and release the oils. Allow it to dry between uses so it lasts.
Wrapped in tissue, card on top.
No prices, no packing slip, no invoice.
Tracking to you, so you know when it lands.
This is one of the season's pieces. It is open to order now and leaves the studio from the middle of October, the week it arrives. You are charged when you order, and we write to you when it is on its way.
